Alexander Varian, or Alex, is a 7th year Gryffindor, who feels like he should have been in Slytherin. He's great at charms, and does pretty well in DADA and potions, though he's pretty dismal with herbology and transfiguration.

Alex is a pureblood, though he's not exactly rich or well known. He was always close to his mother, though recent events have put a strain on that relationship; but he has no contact whatsoever with his father, who is probably dead. He won't look down on someone solely based on bloodlines -- but he is usually less likely to bother being friends with someone if they aren't a pureblood.

He close with few people, hates some, and simply doesn't care about most. Whatever he does decide about you, he's likely to stick to that decision -- out of loyalty, if you're a friend, and out of stubborness if you're not.

Alex has few good friends: Mackenzie Wickham and Colin Mayfield, who is also his cousin. The three of them practically grew up together. His other close friend would be Caer Forelin; they enjoy pulling off pranks together, among other things. He also likes Jul Agate, and thinks of her like he would a little sister.

Calie Myers is his girlfriend -- the only one he's ever had. He cares about her quite a lot, and she can make him more awkward than he'd ever care to admit. Sometimes he hates himself for liking a muggleborn so much, but mostly he just hates himself for not really knowing how to be a good boyfriend. They fight a lot, and they're awkward a lot, but they're good for each other in the end. Probably.

He hates a few people: James Rippner, Vincent Monroe, Maddox Dixon, Lorelai Wellington, and possibly Dakota Rylander.

Everyone else is simply varying levels of annoyance or amusement.
